These highly popular arctic char are raised on Springhills’ small-scale family farms in Grey County. Every healthy and delicious fillet is individually vacuum-sealed, deboned and frozen at peak freshness.
Arctic char is a rare fish originating from Canada’s North. It has a milder and sweeter flavour than its distant cousin, the trout. It’s raised in colder water, which gives it a thicker skin perfect for the barbecue or frying pan!
These delicious arctic char are humanely harvested, filleted, vacuum-sealed and frozen all within a day, which locks in every bit of freshness into your fillets. They will keep up to 12 months in your freezer.
Springhill's hatcheries are Ocean Wise Recommended and certified sustainable by the Best Aquaculture Practices program.
Note: All Springhills fish are pinboned. Every fillet is inspected after deboning, but we do warn you that the odd pinbone sneaks through!
Springhills Fish Farm is a second-generation family farm that sustainably raise fish on small-scale farms with humane growing methods, and they partner with other independently-owned farmers and fishers to bring you even more local fish.
All Springhills fish is recommended by Ocean Wise. Their hatcheries are sustainably certified by the Best Aquaculture Practices program. That means they follow strict guidelines for how fish are cared for, how clean the water is, and the quality of their food. And their wild-caught pickerel is eco-certified by the Marine Stewardship Council.
