The difference is real

Most meat raises questions. Ours raises standards.

Grocery stores, big-box retailers, and most delivery services can't tell you where your meat came from, how it was raised, or what went into it. We can.

From one pasture in Elora, ON to your kitchen.

No distributors. No mystery aggregators. Every order follows one line from Martin's Family Farm to you, and you can follow it too.

01 · Martin's Family Farm, Elora, ON

Raised on open pasture since 1991

Animals here are raised the slow way: outdoors, on pasture, cared for from birth by the family whose name is on the gate. No feedlots, no shortcuts, at any point.

100% Grass Finished · Pasture Raised · No Hormones · Zero Antibiotics
02 · Small-batch processing

Small batches, nothing added

Processed in small batches at a provincially inspected facility and air-chilled with nothing added, so you're never paying for water weight or filler.

Provincially inspected, every batch
03 · Cut fresh to order

Cut fresh to order by the butcher

Your order isn't pulled from months-old warehouse stock. It's cut fresh to order, portioned, and vacuum-sealed at its peak, then packed straight into your box. Grocery beef spends weeks in distribution before it ever reaches the shelf.

Sealed within hours of cutting, every box inspected
04 · Your door

Cold-chain delivered to your door, guaranteed

Thermally regulated packaging with ice packs and dry ice keeps everything cold in transit and for hours at your front door, so no one needs to be home to receive it. If anything's off, tell us within 24 hours and a real person will sort it out with you.

No signature needed. Stays cold for hours at your door.

Meet your farmer

One family. One farm. One standard.

Martin's Family Farms has been a working cattle operation in Elora, Ontario since it was founded by Leroy B. Martin. What started as a family's way of life has grown into one of our most trusted farm partnerships — built on a shared belief that how an animal is raised determines everything about the meat it produces.

The Martins practice rotational grazing, moving their cattle across open pastures to allow the land to recover and the animals to graze naturally. Their cattle are 100% grass-fed and grass-finished — meaning no grain, no feedlot, no shortcuts at any point in the animal's life. From spring pasture to winter barn, every season is managed with the animal's wellbeing as the first priority.

What sets the Martins apart is the degree of control they maintain over the entire operation. They grow and produce their own feed on the farm, which means they know exactly what goes into every animal — and so do we. No imported inputs, no mystery ingredients, no outsourced decisions.

When you order beef from Northern Raised, it comes from this farm. Not a distributor, not a processing facility that aggregates from dozens of unknown sources. One family, one farm, one standard.

From the founders

Our names are on every box.

We started Northern Raised because we were tired of guessing. Grocery labels told us almost nothing about where meat came from, and "local" usually meant a distribution centre, not a farm.

So we built the supply chain we wanted for our own families: named farms, verified standards, cut fresh to order, and delivered cold to your door. If it isn't good enough for our kitchen tables, it doesn't ship. That's the whole business model.

Common questions

Everything you want to know.

Can't find your answer? Real humans, Monday to Friday, 10am to 5pm ET. 1 647 728 7467 or support@northernraised.ca

How fresh is it, really?

Your beef is cut fresh to order by the butcher and vacuum-sealed, then shipped cold straight to you. Compare that to grocery beef, which typically spends weeks moving through processors, distributors, and warehouses before it reaches the shelf. Fresher when it's sealed means better flavour and texture when it hits your pan.

What if I'm not home for delivery?

No problem, and no signature needed. Your box ships in thermally regulated packaging with both ice packs and dry ice, so it stays cold for hours at your door. You'll get tracking with a delivery window so you know exactly when it lands.

Is grass-fed really different from grain-fed?

Yes, measurably. Grass-fed and grass-finished beef is naturally leaner in the wrong places and richer in the right ones: higher in omega-3 fatty acids, CLA, and vitamins A and E. It also has a deeper, cleaner flavour that most customers notice on the first cook. The catch is that true grass-finished beef is rare, which is why we name the farm.

How does delivery work, and is it free?

We deliver across Ontario four days a week, Tuesday through Friday in most areas. Enter your postal code at checkout to see your delivery days and pick the exact date that works for you. Free delivery is available in most regions, with thresholds shown at checkout for your address.

What if something isn't right with my order?

Tell us within 24 hours of delivery and a real person will sort it out with you, usually the same day. Depending on what happened that might be a replacement, a credit, or something else that actually fixes it. Our support team is in Ontario, Monday to Friday, and answers to the founders.
